Widows Sons Support STAND
Members of the Widow's Sons Scotland East enjoyed a memorable and meaningful afternoon with the STAND Young Onset Dementia Group at the Abbotsford Care Homes offices in Kirkcaldy on 31 July.
The Widow's Sons, an international Masonic motorcycle organisation, combines a shared passion for motorcycling with a commitment to supporting local charities and community groups through fundraising and charitable donations.
The afternoon was filled with warm conversation, plenty of tea, and an impressive selection of cakes, creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone in attendance. Members of the Widow's Sons had the opportunity to listen to the personal stories shared by those living with young onset dementia and their families. It proved to be an emotional, inspiring, and thought-provoking experience that highlighted both the challenges faced by those affected and the importance of community support.
As part of the visit, the Widow's Sons Scotland East donated £250 to support the group's ongoing work. In addition, Past Master Finlay Ross presented a further £250, made up of donations received in memory of his late mother together with funds raised through the Fife Masonic News.
The combined donation of £500 will make a valuable contribution to the STAND Young Onset Dementia Group, which, like many charitable organisations, often faces challenges in securing sufficient funding to continue providing its vital support services.
The Widow's Sons Scotland East were honoured to spend time with the group and remain committed to supporting worthwhile local causes that make a genuine difference within their communities.
