The Protocols of the Elders of Zion and
‘Aims and Relationships of the Craft’
When you are at a Scottish Installation and the Aims & Relationships are read out every time, we probably all suffer in silence. But the story behind them relates to the Publication of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion in 1920. The story will take us to the Boer War in South Africa, and involve Rudyard Kipling and then a meeting in Edinburgh.
There is another set of Rules brought in the UGLE called the Basic Principles for Grand Lodge Recognition that were adopted in 1929 by UGLE (and in 1962 by Scotland). These rules were brought in to allow Dudley Wright, the masonic correspondent of The Times of London to attend a meeting of the Universala Framasonsa Liga in Amsterdam.
But I will end by enlightening you with the current view of the Aims & Relationships from a judge in a court in London. History is never as boring as one might think – so come and enjoy the story.
