The Lodge of Kirkcaldie No.72
The Lodge of Kirkcaldie No.72 held a regular meeting on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, which was a well-attended and highly successful evening of Freemasonry.
The ceremonial work of the evening was an exemplification of the Fellow Craft Degree. This was carried out to a high standard by a team of invited Wardens, led by the Senior Warden of the Lodge of Kirkcaldie, Brother John Cairns. The degree showed the dedication and commitment of the brethren taking part. Lodges taking part in the degree work included Lodge 19, Lodge 72, Lodge 385, Lodge 468, Lodge 520, Lodge 764, Lodge 777, Lodge 877, Lodge 935, Lodge 1599 and the candidate from Lodge 809.
During the course of the meeting, an affiliation ceremony was also conducted, welcoming a new member into the Lodge.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of a Distinguished Service Certificate to Brother Hugh Clelland, Past Master. This honour was bestowed in recognition of his outstanding and dedicated service to the Lodge of Kirkcaldie No.72, the Provincial Grand Lodge of Fife and Kinross, and the Scottish Craft as a whole. Brother Clelland’s distinguished Masonic journey includes his service as Depute Provincial Grand Master within the Province of Fife and Kinross, and as Substitute Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Scotland.
A deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Fife and Kinross had been invited along by the Lodge, and the Provincial Grand Master Brother Bill Rocks assisted with the presentation.
The presentation was met with warm appreciation from the Brethren, acknowledging Brother Clelland’s commitment, leadership, and significant contributions over many years.
