Lodge Hope of Kurrachee No.337

A special meeting of the Lodge Hope of Kurrachee No.337 was held on Wednesday 19th June 2019 when R.W.M Brother Gordon Michie welcomed a deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Fife and Kinross headed by Provincial Grand Master Brother Stewart Quigley into the Lodge. Thereafter he welcomed a deputation from the Grand Lodge of Scotland headed by Right Worshipful Substitute Grand Master Brother John Francis Herrick into the Lodge. Brother Herrick was accompanied by Right Worshipful Junior Grand Warden Brother Alexander Moncrieff, Grand Secretary Brother J Euan Edment,  and Grand Steward Brother Robert Crowe. 

The business of the evening was a presentation  given by Brother Bomi S Mehta D.S.M Past District Grand Master of the District Grand Lodge of India on his research of the District Grand Lodge of India (Lodge Hope was first lodge under Grand Lodge of Scotland) (Western India 1842).

At the conclusion of the presentation Brother Gordon Michie on behalf of the Lodge asked Brother Bomi Mehta if he would accept honorary membership of Lodge Hope of Kurrachee, which he readily accepted.

Right Worshipful Junior Grand Warden Brother Alexander Moncrieff then made a presentation to Right Worshipful Substitute Grand Master Brother John Herrick. The presentation made was of a charter holder made of Indian silver that had been presented to The Earl of Eglinton and Winton on a visit to the District Grand Lodge of Pakistan and the scroll inside makes mention of Lodge Hope being no 1 on the roll of the District.

Various other presentations were made including two affiliate membership diplomas to Brother Kevin Thompson Past Master of Lodges 19 and 400 and Brother Gerard O'Donnell, a certificate of completion of the forty-niners to Brother David Shearer Past Master of Lodge Balgonie No.764, his seventh and a certificate of achievement to Brother Finlay Ross Past Master of Lodge Wemyss No.777 founder of the Fife Masonic News Facebook page on behalf of Poppy Scotland for a donation of £1,918.00.

The final presentations were made By Brother Mehta when he presented a commemorative plate of the Taj Mahal to the Grand Lodge of Scotland, to the Provincial Grand Lodge of Fife and Kinross and to Lodge Hope of Kurrachee No.337.
