The Lodge of Kirkcaldie No.72
The Lodge of Kirkcaldie No.72 hosted a walk through first degree on Friday 23rd November 2018. This was in many ways a continuation of the new entrants meeting designed to encourage a fuller understanding of the Entered Apprentice Degree ceremony by providing an opportunity to consider the ceremony in more detail.
The Lodge was opened in the First Degree, the deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge was introduced headed by Provincial Grand Master Bro. Stewart Quigley who thanked the Lodge of Kirkcaldie No.72 for hosting this event and hoped it would go well. The emblem of authority in the Lodge was then handed over to Bro. Mike McAdams PM Lodge St. Fothad's No.1059 who then adjourned the Lodge in order that the demonstration could proceed.
Bro. Mike McAdams Past Master of Lodge St. Fothad's No.1059 W.S.P.G.M and Bro. Kevin Thompson Past Master of Lodge Coupar o' Fife No.19 and Dunearn No.400 conducted the demonstration and thanks must go to them for the work and effort put in to this presentation and for their delivery of it.
Around 70 Brethren were present and no doubt each of them no matter how experienced in Freemasonry took something away from the demonstration. Assisted by a few of our newer Brethren Mike and Kevin walked through the various parts of the Entered Apprentice Degree explaining the salient points of the ceremony such as why the preparation is as it is, why do we take an obligation in the manner we do and why do we perambulate around the Lodge in the manner that we do, all very instructive.
At the close of the demonstration the Lodge was resumed and after thanking all who took part closed. The Brethren then enjoyed a harmony to end the evening. Our grateful thanks go to Cheryl Batchelor for the food provided.
