Wreath Laying Ceremony

Saturday 11th August 2018 saw the Province of Fife and Kinross gather at Douglas Bank cemetery in order to pay respect to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the varous conflicts around the world and to commemorate 100 years since the Armistice of 11th November 1918.

The ceremony was opened by Provincial Grand Master Bro. Stewart Quigley followed by a reading of remembrance by Depute Provincial Grand Master Bro. Bill Rocks.

Provincial Grand Chaplain Bro. Alex Whitehill then led the Brethren in prayer after which Bro. Stuart Malcolm P.M of Lodge Oak No.877 sounded the last post marking a two minute silence.

Piper Bro. Bob Hamilton of Lodge St. Serf No.327 played Flowers of the Forest after which Bro. Stuart Malcolm P.M played Reveille.

Wreaths were laid on behalf of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Fife and Kinross and the various Lodges within the Province.

The Brethren then sung the hymn 'Abide With Me'.

Substitute Provincial Grand Master Bro. Ian Cockburn recited 'In Flanders Fields', followed by prayer led again by Provincial Grand Chaplain Bro. Alex Whitehill.

Provincial Grand Master Bro. Stewart Quigley then addressed all present thanking them for coming along and helping to mark this auspicious occasion. He thanked Bro. David Reid Grand Sword Bearer for coming along and representing the Grand Lodge of Scotland and for his help in the organisation of the day.

He thanked the members of the Widows Sons Motorcycle Group for their attendance and Bro. Gordon Michie our Past Substitute Provincial Grand Master head of fund raising for Poppy Scotland who in turn thanked all for the donations and support shown to Poppy Scotland.
