Lodge Balfour Melville No.809 New Carpet

At the last regular meeting of the 2015-2016 season, Lodge Balfour Melville No.809 unveiled their new Masonic carpet. The carpet displays the Lodge coat of arms, the coat of arms is composed of four items: 1. The coat of arms of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. 2. The Cutty Sark, from the fact that Methil is a seaport and one of the early Masters of Lodge Balfour Melville Bro. Captain George Moodie was the Captain of that ship. 3. The Thane of Fife. and 4. The Hawk, which was the family crest of the Balfour-Melville family. The coat of arms is also attached to the RWM's chain of office.

The Lodge Chaplain Bro. John Donaldson on behalf of Rosslyn Royal Arch Chapter No.261, presented RWM Bro. Jim Davidson with a cheque from the chapter for a donation to assist in the purchase of the carpet. Bro. Donaldson is the First Principle of Rosslyn Royal Arch Chapter No.261.

The first degree work to be carried out on the new carpet was a very well worked Fellow Craft Degree when Bro. Bill Rocks PM of Lodge Randolph No.776 acted as the substitute candidate.
